The New York Times has reported that Governor Cuomo will be introducing a plan to reduce the amount of fraud likely to explode following the announcement of President Obama’s deferred action policy.
Mr. Cuomo’s plan calls for a multilingual news media outreach campaign, community programs and the mobilization of lawyers across New York State to help immigrants navigate the ins and outs of applying for deferred action.
The plan seeks to have immigration attorneys work with different organizations in New York State to try and ensure applicants aren’t being misadvised as to the requirements, their eligibility and the associated costs of the program.
Detailed information regarding deferred action and how to apply for it is set to be provided by USCIS on August 15.
